Most studies on the title “International Superpower” conclude that the probability of India acquiring the dominance after the US is very low, some even say a big “NO”. Neorealist consider enhancing demography, economy and defence helps a nation build power. A country’s level of human and economic development is closely related to its levels of achievement in physical and social infrastructure. Physical infrastructure involves roads, buildings, transport system, agricultural development and access to electricity, consumption per capita and quality of ports whereas social involves sectors such as education and health. Social infrastructure contributes more towards economic growth as it is inclined towards growth of people, enabling them to become more skilled and productive. Skill and productivity is the key to bag wealth for both individual and a nation on the whole. Being largely an agricultural country, redistribution of wealth might make a nation like India acquire a sustainable and exponential growth over time. The lack of access and quality in social infrastructure and in vocational or skill training is probably a main reason for India being too slow in eliminating poverty. Good social and physical infrastructure facilities are crucial for rapid economic growth, human development and poverty reduction. Our country has several favourable factors such as a vast renewable energy source, which could be the prime energy factor in the near future. Its high and young population with most involved in galvanizing industries including IT, scientific research and most also possess high skills with foreign languages that make them good contenders globally. The magnificent amount of natural resources, great trading harbours and its geographic location in fact make import and export a prime boost to its economy. Even though there’s so much in favour, without a mass transit system, to support the current and future urban requirements, employment and trade have devastating outputs. An improvement in commute helps expand business development and work opportunities; it’s critical during emergency situations that require safe and efficient evacuation. Transport infrastructure has been a power factor for a country’s growth. It adds speed and efficiency to the nation’s progress. Good connectivity in the urban and rural areas is essential for economic growth. India has a huge history with town planning and architectural development, the long forgotten Indus Valley Civilization is an example for how skilled our people were in urban planning, the cities had well planned street grids and elaborate drainage systems. More importance to water management was given. For a country with such high population, water management systems are a must. Area based developments with pan city initiatives can be done to improve managements in water system, transport, electricity and traffic management. A proper work force with a proper financial plan can definitely bring major improvements across all fields. A well planned frame work to initiate quality developments focussed towards the future is the “need of the hour”.
